Saying "we've got you" without saying a word.
A house that becomes home during a child's hospital stay and the everyday merch that carries far more than it looks like it should.
Ronald McDonald House (RMH) has kept the same promise since its inception: when a child needs critical care far from home, no family should have to face it alone. RMH South Central Ontario sits steps away from the hospital. Forty-one bedrooms, a full kitchen, meals cooked and shared, and a bed for the nights when the alternative is a chair. Everything about the place is built to tell a family, in the hardest time of their life, that they are not on their own here.
A message like that has to start somewhere. This one starts at the door.
Among the first things a family receives at the House is a welcome tote. Inside: a water bottle, a notebook, a pen. Ordinary objects, the kind that get waved off as filler the moment they carry a logo. But nobody arrives here having packed for this. And nobody, mid-emergency, thinks about the small things until they are the things missing.
The tote isn't a bag. It's how one parent carries belongings back and forth to the hospital every day, while the other cares for the siblings at home. It's also how families recognize each other in the hallway and start to feel less alone.
The water bottle isn't just a vessel. It's a reminder to stay hydrated during a draining twelve-hour day at a bedside.
The notebook isn't just a notebook. It's where the questions for the doctor go, the advice the nurse gives, the medication times, and the milestones worth holding onto when everything else feels like too much.
The playing cards aren't just a game. They're a way to connect with others, occupy your mind, and pass the time in the waiting room.
Our relationship with RMH began in 2025 and has quietly continued. Many of us have volunteered in the kitchen, plating meals for families we'll never meet. It has a way of reframing what the orders are really for.
When the House needs a top-up, we're there. When they want to try something new, we're there.
That is the whole point of this work. It has nothing to do with the products and everything to do with caring.
The moment a family walks through the door, Ronald McDonald House lives out its mission: “We've got you.”
We just help them say it.
Engineered for emotion.
